When I was looking for a small and affordable camera a few years ago, my friend, the photographer Guy Carpenter, recommended the Pentax Q. It’s tiny. In fact, it’s the world’s smallest interchangeable lens camera. For its size, it’s amazing. It appears to have a bit of a cult following, and I can see why. These images from my travels were all taken with the Pentax Q,using only the Q 01 Standard Prime Lens — no zooming possible. The Q has a brilliant high-contrast black and white preset, and pretty much all of these picture were taken using that setting. I think that this camera, with this lens, excels at capturing small slices, corners, and details of things. That’s what these images are all about.
